There is a music for lonely hearts nearly always. If the music dies down there is a silence. Almost the same as the movement of music. To know silence perfectly is to know music.

Carl Sandburg
About This Quote

Are there any people who can never be lonely? Most people go through some form of loneliness at some point in their lives. However, the people who are truly happy are those who can find a way to make their loneliness disappear. The answer lies in music. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first use of the word “music” was in reference to musical instruments.

Some of the earliest pieces of music were created around 5500 BC for religious purposes. These early pieces included simple tunes that were sung by people all over the world. Beginning in the late 1400s, composers began writing melodies which are now known as popular songs.

By the 1920s, this form of music was becoming more and more popular and people began listening to music for pleasure rather than for religious purposes.
